Graduation Dress Code

Traditional Dress for Graduation is Cap, Gown and Tassel
Please note that while caps and gowns are the traditional dress for graduation, such attire is not required for students to participate in graduation ceremonies. CAMS has not changed their cap and gown style for years, so if a neighbor, friend or relative has one, a student may wish to borrow theirs. We also make free caps and gowns available for students who wish to borrow them. Please also keep in mind that graduation dress codes will apply in the absence of a cap and gown.

Academic Achievements Attire:
• Cords, stoles, medallions etc., that are related to student’s academic achievements, Pathway affiliation, clubs, or accomplishments are allowed.

Celebratory Accessories:
• Wearing celebratory or cultural accessories during graduation is allowed. These include but are not limited to flower leis, necklaces, etc. (Money Leis can only be given to the student to wear at the conclusion of the graduation ceremony).
• All celebratory accessories must be appropriate for school and the audience; nothing inappropriate or offensive is allowed.

Cap and Gown Modifications:

• No modifications of the cap and gown are allowed. Even for students that paid for their own cap and gown. All accessories must be separate from the cap and gown and not physically alter the cap and gown in any way.

Bottled water and small snack food is permitted. 

We welcome guests bringing event-related signs, flags, banners, and posters inside the building to show support during events. The following guidelines relate to these items:  

  • Item may not be larger than 3' x 4' in dimension / Item must be related to event / Item may not be attached to a stick or pole / Item may not obstruct any building signage / Item may not be constructed or displayed in a manner that may obstruct the view of other guests or in any way create a safety hazard

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to:

  • Confetti or streamers / Weapons of any kind. Any object that can be considered or used as a weapon is not allowed inside the stadium / 
  • Coolers, food, alcohol, glass bottles, glass vases, metals cans, etc.
  • Balloons, Inflatable objects, Beach Balls, Noisemakers (including plastic horns), air horns, whistles, musical instruments, drums, drum sticks, thunder sticks, sticks, etc.
  • Masks, Umbrellas, register tape, suitcases, etc.  Professional cameras, video, tripods, etc. Skateboards, Roller blades, etc.
  • Fireworks, explosives of any kind, smoke bombs, laser pointers, etc. Mace and Pepper Spray, Chains, Waterguns, Bags/Backpacks no larger than 14 x 16, Drones, Video cameras
