Admissions Information
Long Beach Unified School District Applicants will be receiving information about High School Choice in September and October through ParentVUE and your child's Long Beach middle school.
CAMS Application Process for Admission - Class of 2027
Requirements for consideration:
1. Students MUST reside in the CAMS attendance area:
- School Districts: Compton Unified, Hawthorne, Inglewood Unified, Lawndale, Lennox, Long Beach Unified, Lynwood Unified, Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified, Torrance Unified and Wiseburn.
- The following middle schools in the southeastern portion of the Los Angeles Unified School District: Bethune, Carnegie, Caroldale, Carver, Curtiss, Dana, Dodson, Drew, Edison, Fleming, Gage, Gompers, Harry Bridges Span, Harte, Mann, Markham, Muir, Nimitz, Peary, Rancho Dominguez Prep, South Gate, White and Wilmington.
- Private/charter school students who live in the attendance area of the above middle schools are also eligible to apply.
2. Academic Requirements:
- Completion of Algebra 1 or higher math during the 8th grade (Math 8, Acc Math 8 and Common Core courses are not equivalent to Algebra 1)
- 3.0 cumulative academic GPA for grades 6-7
- 3.0 GPA on most recent 8th-grade report
- 7th Grade Standardized ELA and Math SBAC Test Scores
3. NON-Long Beach Applicants ONLY*: Complete our online application, which includes all parts listed below:
CAMS online application (see button above) will be available on November 14, 2022.
- STEP 1 Online Application: Non-Long Beach Applicants the application window will open on November 14, 2022, and will close at 4:30 pm on December 16, 2022. (Non-LBUSD students ONLY)
- Please be sure to print the online application receipt for your records. (Must have a Gmail account to receive a receipt)
- STEP 2 Due December 22, 2022: Completed counselor report placed in a signed, sealed envelope. The counselor report must include the following and be returned or mailed by either the counselor or parent directly to CAMS.
- An official transcript and a copy of the students most recent progress report from grade 8
- 7th Grade Standardized ELA and Math SBAC Test Scores
- Private school students must include copies of all standardized test scores for the 6th and 7th grades.
- Admissions to CAMS is designed to provide opportunities for qualified students from middle schools in our consortium.
NOTE: If you reside in Long Beach or attend a LBUSD school then you will apply through the CHOICE Office. Our online application is only for NON-Long Beach Applicants. Please note, the CAMS application window is different than the LBUSD Choice Application.
